The marksmanship training courses listed on this site adhere to the standards of the National Rifle Association (NRA). Safety is a key issue when handling firearms and student certification is dependent upon a practical demonstration of NRA Safety Standards.
The "Basics of Pistol Shooting" course is designed to teach you the basic fundamentals of marksmanship—to give you a good foundation on which to build your shooting skill. You will be instructed and coached in the proper grip, stance, sight-alignment, sight-picture, and trigger control, along with other aspects of becoming a good shooter. The goal is to develop your ability and confidence in safe and accurate shot placement.
We cover self-defense strategy in these courses, but not tactics. It is essential that you become competent, and confident, in the fundamentals of safe gun-handling and accurate shot delivery prior to advancing to tactical training.
Many people find that the Basics of Pistol Shooting course fulfills their personal goal. Anyway, after you become proficient in the fundamentals of handling and shooting a handgun safely and accurately, you will then be prepared for further training in the tactical aspects of self-defense should you desire to do so. The Personal Protection In The Home course deals with the legal and practical aspects of defending your home with a firearm.
