Seamanship Courses

American Sailing Association (ASA) Certified Courses

These seamanship courses are conducted on Pensacolal Bay and adjacent Gulf Coastal waters; they are student live-aboard courses designed for two students. Larger (or individual) class sizes can be arranged. Combination courses are also available. Facilities are provided through an award-winning sailing school. The yachts, which range from 28' to 38' in length, are equipped with reverse flow air conditioning for year-round comfort. Training is normally scheduled in advance according to the student's requirement. Contact us at "info" at navigoarmatus dot com for availability or for more information.

The ASA certification program is a stepped program requiring that prerequisites be met for enrollment in most courses. All courses, with the exception of Coastal Navigation, include both written and practical (on-water) examination. The Coastal Navigation course is a classroom-only course with written/plotting exam, however opportunity for practicing on-water navigation is available during some of the other courses.

Experienced sailor's may opt to forgo formal instruction and 'challenge' the prerequisite level, but they must successfully complete the written and practical exam's for each level, prior to advancing to the next level.
