Basics of Pistol Shooting Course

The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting course provides the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for owning and using a pistol and/or revolver safely. Successful completion of this course fulfills the training requirement for obtaining a Concealed Carry Permit in the State of Florida, and many other States.

Phase 1    (The "eLearning" Phase)

The new NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Course includes a “blended" training course, which means that a portion of the course (Phase 1) is conducted as a distance learning, or eLearning, course online; Phase 1 can be completed in your own home, at your own pace, on your own time and schedule.

The NRA will send you a textbook and all of the necessary materials when you enroll online.

Your instructor will not normally be participating in the process until you have completed Phase I, and are ready to proceed to Phase 2.

See the link at the bottom for more information about getting started.

Phase 2    (The Practical Application Phase)

Contact us after you have successfully completed Phase 1, including the online exam, and we will help you proceed to the instructor-led training portion (Phase 2), which will be completed at a local range.

We will have a brief review of Phase 1, and a full briefing on the range safety rules, along with the course of fire, prior to going to the range. You will need at least 100 rounds of ammunition for this course. Since there will be no more than two student’s per ‘class', we can easily adjust the pace to accommodate each student.

NOTE: You must successfully complete both Phase 1 and Phase 2 in order to receive the "NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting" Certificate.
