General Description: Coastal Navigation (ASA-105) is a 3-day seminar (classroom only) covering the fundamentals of piloting and dead reckoning. Addressed are the skills required to safely navigate a cruising vessel in unfamiliar coastal waters. Topics include marine chart reading, plotting practice, aids to navigation, correcting compass error, tides and tidal current, and determining vessel speed and location with magnetic lines of position, and much more.
