Description : A non-shooting course that teaches students the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for the safe handling and storage of firearms and ammunition in the home.
This is a four-hour course for safe gun handling that is conducted in the classroom only. Students are taught NRA’s three rules for safe gun handling; primary causes of firearms accidents; firearm parts; how to unload various action types; ammunition components; cleaning; care; safe storage of firearms in the home; and the benefits of becoming an active participant in the shooting sports. Students will receive the NRA Home Firearm Safety handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Basic Firearm Training Program brochure, course completion certificate.

This course is also useful for first-responders or home-care providers, who are inexperienced with firearms, and who might possibly encounter a firearm in their normal course of duties. Is it safe to handle the firearm? Is the firearm loaded? How do you unload it? This course will answer those questions and more.
This course will teach you how to handle guns, how they operate, and will help you be at ease around firearms.
Materials issued to students during the conduct of this training class include: Home Firearm Safety Handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules Brochure, Basic Firearm Training Program Brochure, and Course Completion Certificate.
