What is the best way to lower the rate of one of the most heinous crimes on the books?
Sheriff Bob Johnson of Santa Rosa County, Florida, stands by 2022 comments he made encouraging homeowners to shoot intruders and points out the odds of a dead intruder committing another offense are “zero.”

Johnson made clear there have not been any home invasions in Santa Rosa County since the 2022 video in which he expressed support for homeowners shooting intruders.
It should be noted that we (the victim homeowner's) don’t shoot to kill, we shoot to stop the threat. But, there is a reason why it’s called "deadly force”.
And, due to the critical nature of the crime of home invasion, it should also be noted that this type of immediate response by the victim has Biblical sanction; see Exo. 22:2.
