Kitchen Gun?

This example of so-called 'humor' by Peter Serafinowicz could provide a vital clue to why British citizens don't have the right to keep and bear arms:

Cubs Win!

It was the top of the ninth inning of the decisive game of the 2016 NLCS at Wrigley Field; The score was Cubs 5, Dodgers 0. The Cubs 'closer' Aroldis Chapman was on the mound. Dodgers' Enrique Hernandez had struck out for the first out, and pinch-hitter Carlos Ruiz had walked on six pitches.

There was a runner on first with one out.

Pinch-hitter Yasiel Puig was at the plate. Every one of the 42,386 fan's that were physically capable of standing was on their feet.

Chapman's first pitch to Puig, and:

[T]he Cubs won on Saturday night, bringing joy too sweet to be expressed in words for Dan Pellettieri...

Dan Pellettieri was 9 years old in October 1945, when his older brother, John, took him to [watch the Cubs play the Tigers in] the World Series at Wrigley Field.

John was 27 and had returned that summer from serving in the Army during World War II. He came home to Chicago a hero after fighting with the 712th tank battalion that landed on Utah Beach in Normandy in the weeks following D-Day.

As Dan, now 80, watched Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo squeeze the final out of the National League Championship Series in a 5-0 win over the Dodgers on Saturday night in the same ballpark seven decades later, he thought of his late brother as tears streamed down his face.

Dan brought with him to the ballpark a photograph of himself standing next to his brother, holding his tickets to the 1945 Series, the last one the Cubs had played in before clinching the NL pennant on Saturday.

"He reached into his pocket, unfolded the picture, and held it up to the sky," said John Jr., who took his uncle to Game 6 in the hopes that the family would see something he's waited 71 years to witness.

The Pellettieri brothers were devoted Cubs fans, as was their father and his father before them. After being awarded two Purple Hearts, two Bronze Stars and a Silver Star among other service medals, John was thrilled to take his younger brother and father to see his beloved ballclub take on the Tigers for the championship.

"My brother was quite proud to be able to do this," Dan said. "It was an important thing."

It still is Dan!

An Old Constitution for 'New' Millennial's

Like an alarm clock going off, the June 26, 2008 supreme court decision of D.C. v Heller brought to the forefront the concept and purpose behind the 2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Though it is evident that not everyone has awoken to the alarm.

Aside from the utilitarian aspect of self-defense, the right of the citizens to keep and bear arms is a civil right that was, and is, designed as a practical means of guarding against the establishment of tyrannical government. A recent article by Nicole Russell gives us a little insight into why this kind of safeguard is necessary.

If anyone needed new evidence that millennials have been deprived of a basic education, a new survey provides it with findings about their high acceptance rates of mass-murder-enabling ideologies such as socialism and communism....these numbers show a generation sadly misinformed about the historical and present realities of life under communism and socialism.

To paraphrase a famous quote made by Benjamin Franklin, although it seems to get a little shaky at times, we still have “a Republic, if you can keep it.”

By the grace of God, we will be able to keep it!

Firearm-mounted Flashlights

The main problem with firearm-mounted flashlights is the concomitant violation of the rule "always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction"; it's not necessarily a problem with trigger discipline, although it could be.

It would be wise to NOT mount the (search) flashlight on the gun, and become familiar with "the best flashlight technique to use while deploying your handgun."

Where's Bond?

If you have come to grips with the rhetoric and rationale behind the so-called Black Lives Matter movement, it should come as no shock that black cops are not really black...

The NAACP is saying that becoming a police officer robs a black man of his black essence. That black cops are no longer truly black and must surrender their “black card” to the NAACP.

With all of this CHAOS, 007 has to be around here someplace...

Yeah, levity helps — a little..

Telltales

"Mare’s tails and mackerel scales,
make tall ships carry low sails."

Back in 1803, in his essay on clouds, Luke Howard divided clouds into three categories; Cirrus, Cumulus and Stratus.

The Latin word 'cirro' means curl of hair. Composed of ice crystals, cirro-form clouds are whitish and hair-like. They are the high, wispy clouds to first appear in advance of a low pressure area such as a mid-latitude storm system or a tropical system such as a hurricane.

In the early days of sail, Howard's cloud types were described by their appearance, or what they resembled in appearance, to the sailors.

"Mare’s tails" are wispy cirrus clouds while the "mackerel scales" are small clumpy altocumulus clouds resembling fish scales in the sky. In the days of large sailing ships, this meant a storm would be approaching soon and the sails should be lowered to protect from the accompanying high winds.

They're here, in the sky over Pensacola, this morning.

Still South of Jamaica, and headed North, Hurricane Matthew is a strong storm; prayers for those in its path.

Black Matter Lives

Having watched the televised proceeding of FL v. Zimmerman from voire dire to verdict, including the sworn testimony, challenges, and attendant argument, I can wholeheartedly agree with Jack Cashill's premise. He points out how a lie, propagated by vindictiveness, can become institutionalized and develop into widespread social turmoil. But then, that's nothing new; it's been the condition since Genesis 3...
