Issues with Aging and Self Defense

As we grow into our senior years, it becomes more important to have at our disposal the implements, or tools, that help us overcome the infirmities that are commonly associated with the aging process.

The latest issue of the American Rifleman, the journal of the National Rifle Association, includes an article by Managing Editor, Kelly Young, that deals with some of these issues as they pertain to defending ourselves from predators.

Several of the points made in the following downloadable PDF of Young's article are good topics for discussion.

If you are headed for the Panama Canal, you might want to advance the throttle, so as to be sure to arrive there before the New Year (2020) begins!

This reminder from Sail:

The canal authority has doubled the minimum charge for small vessels...

Sailors with boats under 50ft have every right to feel peeved at the increase. Until December 31, they’ll pay $800 under the existing rate; after that, the toll increases to $1,600. At the same time, the size bracket for the minimum toll increases from 50ft to 65ft. As a result, a 50ft-65ft yacht that would have paid $1,300 under the old rate will now be charged only $300 more.

The new tolls take effect on January 1, 2020.
