Life in a 'gun-free zone'

'Grab and Run' Theft precedes Beating

Mark Andrew, 63, was at a Starbucks inside the mall at around 7 p.m. Thursday when a man grabbed his phone off his table and ran off.

When Andrew went after him, he was tackled by two teenage girls -- aged 18 and 17 — one of which began beating him with a billy club. During the attack, they told Andrew, "We're going to kill you," police say.

Andrew was left with a large gash on his head that required nine stitches. He has since been released from the hospital.

It's a matter of public safety...

Sure is!

Justice?

White Texas Man First to Be Charged with Federal Hate Crime for Allegedly Playing 'Knockout' Game

27-year-old Conrad Alvin Barrett is a white man who allegedly attacked a 79-year-old black man in Texas on November 24.

This is NOT the right way to make a point; but nevertheless, a point has been made—the hard way!

The point being the question of whether or not the existing United States Attorney General is a racist, and therefore not impartially carrying out the duties of his office.

There have been many recent incidents of racial violence, but there has been only one application of the "Hate Crimes Prevention Act " by the USAG's office. And, it just so happens that the case is a (the only?) case where the miscreant is white and the victim is black.

When 'the law' is not being enforced by those whom the citizens have employed to  do so, it becomes necessary for the citizen's to be prepared to "take the law into their own hands."

As a law-abiding citizen, are you prepared to take the law into your own hands if necessary to protect yourself or your family?

Merry Christmas!

Thoughts at Christmas

One of the nice things about growing older is developing a keen awareness and greater appreciation for historical fact.

Like most people, I grew up celebrating Christmas with what I call the 'Madison Avenue' version of the manger scene. You know the scene well; a well-lighted stable with lots of fresh straw and a variety of healthy looking animals nearby, and people standing around smiling in their colorful unsoiled clothing. And the wise men—well we know the truth about the wise men being at the manger scene.

I doubt that the popular version of the manger scene was what the birthplace really looked like. And, I’m sure the scene didn’t smell like peppermint.

What if we could duplicate the real scene on that holy night?

Let’s see, first we’d need to turn down the light—to maybe one little candle or oil lamp illuminating the darkness. We’d need some cobwebs and urine-soaked dirt and straw, and plenty of manure covering the ground.

And the feed trough—the feed trough that we euphemistically refer to as "the manger", would need to be well-worn from being rubbed and slobbered over by hungry animals... Maybe a few rats or mice running around... If you grew up on a farm, you get the picture.

I’m saying this, not to detract from the beauty of the event, but to emphasize the beauty of an event so profound and glorious that only reality and truth does it justice.

In 2004, David Sisler, in Agape Press, wrote of his vision of that night:

"Push!" Joseph urged.

"The Messiah. Christ the Lord. Unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior."

"Push!"

That night an angel chorus sang to shepherds, but their notes were drowned out by the screams of a young woman, a little girl, a baby who was having a baby.

The Savior of the world? God's Son?

"Come on, Mary. I can see the head. Just one more push!"

And somewhere in the darkness, Joseph held his son -- God's Son, God in human flesh -- by the heels and swatted the baby's backside and Jesus communicated with sinful mankind for the first time. The fluid cleared from His lungs and the coda to the angel's chorus was a healthy wail. Then Mary cleaned her bloody son -- for the first time -- and wrapped Him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger.

Thirty-three years later, another Joseph, Joseph of Aramathea, cleaned off the bloody body of Mary's son, God's Son, God in human flesh -- for the last time -- wrapped Him in burial clothes and laid Him in a tomb.

But death could hold Him for only three days because He really was, really is, the Savior who is Christ, the Lord!

He is Christmas. He is the reason for the season. Merry Christmas!

God's word became flesh and nine months later, on that holy night, from that humble scene, appeared a Savior who died for our sins.

Thank you Lord Jesus!

Dogs

Unconditional Love

As a train approached the station, Cecil Williams, a blind 60 year old diabetic on his way to the dentist, became faint near the edge of the train boarding platform.

"Orlando" and Williams

William's guide dog, a black labrador retriever named "Orlando", tried to steady Williams. "The dog was barking and trying to keep Williams, a big man, from falling"—but Williams fell onto the tracks. Orlando, without hesitation, leapt down to be with his injured master….

Witnesses, shouted at Williams to stay down "in the trough between the rails" while they notified the operator of the approaching train. The train couldn't stop before the first two cars had passed over Williams—and Orlando, who loyally remained at William's side.

“The dog saved my life,” Williams told the Associated Press from his hospital bed, his voice breaking. “I’m feeling amazed. I feel that God, the powers that be, having something in store from me. They didn’t take me away this time. I’m here for a reason.”

And so is Orlando!

Inhibitors

Regardless of whether you refer to it as an "inhibitor", a "suppressor", or a "silencer", the attachment is worthy of being a 'top of the list' accessory for any shooter who wants to protect their hearing

No, they don't silence all of the noise, but they reduce the noise to a level that is less likely to do permanent damage to a nearby person's hearing.

We don't have to pay a special tax to put a "muffler" on our trucks and automobiles, neither should we have to pay a special tax, accompanied by transfer fee and extra paperwork, to inhibit or muffle the noise made by our firearms.

In spite of the intrusive legal hassle, the inhibitor industry is alive and well—and growing.

Here is a recent comparison of a few 7.62mm Direct Thread Suppressors.

The following videos illustrate the added burden, including the expense and time, that the "NFA" law now requires when buying one of these attachments.

People That Shouldn't Have Guns

Clayton Cramer, in his commentary regarding the recent Arapahoe High School violence pointed out one of the underlying reasons behind the liberal cry for, what they are now euphemistically calling, "gun safety":

...people who don't trust themselves are inclined to distrust others.

There is plenty of evidence to support that comment.

2nd Amendment

For everything there is a season, and a time...

Contrary to liberal fantasy belief, there is no effective way to keep implements of violence out of the hands of evil people. It is only a matter of time until the next nut case unleashes their rage upon innocent, and sometimes not-so-innocent, people. So, what is the most effective way to deal with murderers—while supporting those who have the means and courage to end the violence? Chris Bird, author of Thank God I Had a Gun, presented an answer to that question at the 2013 Gun Rights Policy Conference in Houston, Texas.

Here is an audio copy of the story in Chris' words:

This story illustrates the reason why most cops in this country favor the 2nd Amendment to our Constitution.

"Gun control"

Progress

Some people seem to be slowly wising up to the fact that when it comes to keeping the peace, banning gun bans is more effective than outlawing outlaws. That's progress!

A divided Florida appeals court ruled Tuesday that public colleges and universities -- except in limited circumstances -- lack the legal right to regulate gun possession on campus.

Manners are important

Armed and Impolite

You've probably heard the maxim that 'an armed society is a polite society.' The reason for the truth of that statement is both profound and easy for the average person to contemplate.

Apparently, it's not so easy for some people to contemplate a negative correlation to the above maxim: 'if you're armed and impolite, you're going to have trouble.'

Without going into a lot of detail about the task that cops have these days, it shouldn't be too difficult to understand why cops are overtly cautious in today's world. When a cop asks you a question, it's not wise, nor polite, to give them a petulant answer. The following video illustrates the reason why.

The video, which went viral when it was placed on the internet last November, is labeled "Illegal Arrest;" a jury in Texas didn't agree with that label.

Be armed, obey the law, and be polite!

Devoted father and Iraq war veteran shot dead over Christmas shopping

Vester

Jim Vester, who has served the military for 12-years was shot dead while buying an iPad who had arranged through Craigslist

Vester, 32, was pronounced dead at the scene in Indianapolis and leaves behind his wife Jamie and son Gavin

Tyron Kincade, 19, and his brother Tyshaune Kincade, 18, have been arrested and charged with Vester's murder

Reading the news reports regarding these incidents points to the fact that there is no secular way to describe evil; the only adequate explanation of evil is theological.

Total depravity!

This world has what can be described as cauldrons of depravity. These cauldrons are constantly bubbling and boiling over. Nothing deters evil better than the individual ability to mount an effective defense.

In preparation for the unknown, we always start with a prayer, but realize that we may need a gun.

Teens accused of murdering contractor

Cunningham, identified as the shooter, had an astounding history with the juvenile court system with 16 contacts.

"As the judge said, he had been through every program possible so there is not chance for rehabilitation," said prosecutor Ray Lepone.

They didn't show photo's of the accused murderers "because they were a minor." But, the judge ruled 16-year-old Corey Sandifer and 15-year-old Derek Cunningham, both claiming to be gang members, to be tried as adults.

Cunningham&Sandifer

This incident reminds me of another story; on January 6, 2007, another young carpenter by the name of Christopher Newsom, along with his date Channon Christian were brutally murdered in a hate-crime. The fact that two of the victims were carpenters is probably inadvertent, but there is a pattern here—for those who are willing to recognize it.

So, what is an effective defense and/or remedy for this kind of behavior? And, upon whose shoulders does the remedy ultimately fall?

History

The Search for Cheer

It was Christmas Eve 1926, the streets aglitter with snow and lights, when the man afraid of Santa Claus stumbled into the emergency room at New York City's Bellevue Hospital. He was flushed, gasping with fear: Santa Claus, he kept telling the nurses, was just behind him, wielding a baseball bat.

That's not the topic sentence in a pulp fiction novel, it represents just how far some government bureaucrats will go when they declare "game on."

The little-told story of how the U.S. government poisoned alcohol during Prohibition

The idea was to scare people into giving up illicit drinking. Instead, by the time Prohibition ended in 1933, the federal poisoning program, by some estimates, had killed at least 10,000 people.

You can file this story under "Reasoning Behind The 2nd Amendment." The story also points out the truthful fact that the act of passing a law doesn't solve a behavioral problem.

Judicial Watch Releases 2013 “Transparency 101: Freedom of Information Act and Open Records Handbook”

On November 15th, 2013 Judicial Watch released its 2013 “Transparency 101:  Freedom of Information Act and Opens Records Handbook,” which provides comprehensive information about how organizations and individuals can use the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and the Privacy Act (PA) to gain access to government documents and scrutinize the behavior of public officials.

The “Transparency 101” handbook, which contains detailed information on how to file requests for information from the government, warns: “The centralization of power at the federal level over the past century and the sheer vastness of the federal bureaucracy have made it easy for officials to keep important decisions from public scrutiny … This handbook seeks to empower Americans with the ability to: (1) identify records sought; (2) draft, submit, and administratively appeal requests; and (3) prepare to litigate [open records] requests regarding information that they seek either for public benefit or information pertaining directly to them that they have a right to access.”

Don't let the tools of freedom get rusty!

Gun-free Zones—A haven for violence

There is an old saying that is tested and true, "an armed society is a polite society." There is good reason why that is true.

We've had many a lesson, and the Rigby case is another example of what life is like in a gun-free zone.

Fast and Furious

Remembering All

It has been reported that there will be another attempt to push an anti-gun political agenda in conjunction with the anniversary of the Newtown school murders. The month of December also represents the third anniversary of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry's death at the hands of marijuana smugglers who used guns from the “Fast and Furious” operation.

fastandfurious

It's true that there are people who should not be allowed to get their hands on a gun, but it should be remembered that the average American citizen doesn't fall into that category.

2nd Amendment

Crime and Guns

Every place that guns have been banned, murder rates have gone up. You cannot point to one place where it has fallen, whether it’s Chicago or D.C. or even island nations such as England, Jamaica, or Ireland.

Professor John Lott explains the phenomena in this interview:

Freedom and responsibility go hand in hand. When the so called "progressives" want to ban guns, it reveals their deviant view of progress.

CMP Garand Stock Running Low

It seems that the things that made this country great are slowly passing away.

It may not be very long before the CMP Sales sees the last functioning Garand go out the door. Below is an article from the December 2013 issue of Shooting Sports USA.
