Teens accused of murdering contractor

Cunningham, identified as the shooter, had an astounding history with the juvenile court system with 16 contacts.

"As the judge said, he had been through every program possible so there is not chance for rehabilitation," said prosecutor Ray Lepone.

They didn't show photo's of the accused murderers "because they were a minor." But, the judge ruled 16-year-old Corey Sandifer and 15-year-old Derek Cunningham, both claiming to be gang members, to be tried as adults.

This incident reminds me of another story; on January 6, 2007, another young carpenter by the name of Christopher Newsom, along with his date Channon Christian were brutally murdered in a hate-crime. The fact that two of the victims were carpenters is probably inadvertent, but there is a pattern here—for those who are willing to recognize it.

So, what is an effective defense and/or remedy for this kind of behavior? And, upon whose shoulders does the remedy ultimately fall?
