Reading the news reports regarding these incidents points to the fact that there is no secular way to describe evil; the only adequate explanation of evil is theological.

This world has what can be described as cauldrons of depravity. These cauldrons are constantly bubbling and boiling over. Nothing deters evil better than the individual ability to mount an effective defense.
