Locking up S&W
It's 2013, and many of us have automobiles that can sense our presence, and obediently unlock, by communicating with a transponder in our pocket. So, if we don't need a key for our automobiles anymore, why should we want to mess with a key when using a gun? The answer, of course, is that we don't — nor did we ever. And no, I'm not advocating putting transponders on guns! There are ways to safely secure a firearm without putting an unsightly and cumbersome key slot in the side plate. Why then are there key locks on Smith & Wesson guns? Here's the story.
