You say that you don't rely on the government for help. Well, guess what, the police are just another government agency. Do you rely on them for your personal safety?
We've been urging for some time now that it's best to not rely on the police for protection from a feral element that is becoming more mobile and unpredictable. The police do the best that they can, but in many cases they cannot save you from violent attack. Every citizen should consider both proactive and reactive strategies to deal with an emboldened feral element, without having to rely on help from the police. Don't worry, the police will eventually arrive at the scene, and in their capacity as 'armed historian's, will write up the facts. It's your responsibility to provide them with the truthful facts; and that will be easier to do if you are alive and well. Defense is something that takes preparation and practice. The time to start thinking about it is yesterday.
