Another Moonlight Cruise To Die For

A brief study of the pharmacology of ethanol, or ethyl alcohol, (the kind that people drink) reveals some good reasons why you should not consume said substance when you have to rely on having fast reaction, good night vision, and the capacity of reasonable prudence. For those who have to learn the hard way, here is the latest example of what can happen when you disregard the facts:

On July 3, 1999, two Recreational Motorboats collided on the St. Croix River near Bayport, Minnesota. A review of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) report might make you a little paranoid if you spend much time on the water at night around heavily populated areas.

On April 12, 2009, a 22.5-foot recreational boat traveling in the dark, and carrying 14 persons, hit a moored boat in the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) near Ponte Vedra Beach in St. Johns County, Florida. Five people died.
