Stationary Fronts
As a sailor, I have long associated stationary fronts with nasty weather; this illustrates the concept to the extreme….. This surface diagram for the Gulf of Mexico shows a stationary front that appears to be almost the forecast track of Hurricane Milton. Shown are wind direction, wind speeds in knots, and wave heights in feet.
